THE HORROR MIRROR A nun dresses in black and white walks down the church, turns down the candle lit hall, and turns around because she thinks she hears someone calling out to her. Thinking nothing of it, she finishes her journey to the church. Mary walks into the church as if she is walking into her own place, with a smile because she is relaxed. She feels very secure in the church. Mary is trying to rid her mind of all her thoughts.

Walking through the halls, she hears her name being called and the faint sound of an echo, and by instinct again she turns around. But to her surprise nothing was there. All that surrounds her are the empty halls, and the mirror in-between the two angels. Mary knew she wasn’t just hearing voices out in a distance, but that there is someone or something calling out to her.

Mary despises all the little trick-or-treaters walking down the unpaved street. She mostly cringes at the fact that most of them dress up as red and black devils or a little princess fairy wearing a too-too that gets glitter everywhere. And on top of it all taking candy from people they don’t even know. How could grown adults allow their children to worship the devil? As she’s looking out the window an unexpected owl perches itself on the red pane of the glossy window. Mary jumps back and her right hand lands on a piece of a scripture. Not just any scripture but, “I shall fear no evil.” What is that suppost to mean? Mary didn’t believe that she, herself would be afraid of Halloween, but what was this night was to bring with it?

Mary walks about the church every evening as if to patrol these stretched out mazes, everybody else likes to call “halls.” Why on this night, of all nights, only I have the duty of patrolling? Someone screams! Mary jumps up to her feet and follows the screaming echo! When she gets to the mirror propped up between two angels, she finds one of the Catholic school girls and she has a dazed look upon her face, like she doesn’t know what just happened! Mary knew Elizabeth, because she’s the only girl that Mary ever sees walking around the halls in a deep sleep. Coincidently enough she always finds her in the exact spot as the night before.

Elizabeth is hysterical, because even she doesn’t know what happened while she was sleep walking. The next morning Mary went to go and visit the isolated Elizabeth. The hospital connects to the back of the church so that all of the nuns have easy access through the church to the hospital. Elizabeth looks as if she has just seen a ghost. Her face is as pale as fog in the middle of the night. She was motionless, no expression even tried to cross her face.

Mary doesn’t know what to do with herself anymore? Her mind is wondering as it gets older. What if something happens to me? I don’t need something to put me in my death bed before I am originally suppose to be there! She sits in her chair slightly rocking back and forth, until she has to go and pace the halls. Mary constantly finds Elizabeth walking around when she’s supposed to be sleeping!

She dozes off into a wondrous sleep, dreaming about Elizabeth in the hospital. Elizabeth’s face kept popping up in Mary’s dream until she woke up in a sweat drenching her from head to toe. I can’t take it anymore! She screams at the top of her lungs. Nuns from every direction start coming out of no where, to see what’s going on?

Mary looks at the crowd of people surrounding her in a circle. She asks them as politely as she could, “Why are you all circling me like a herd of elephants in a water hole?” They all leave the room walking one after another, and not saying a word. All of the nuns that are walking out of the room must be thinking that she must have needed some sort of help. They are bewildered with her rude attitude.

Mary gets ready for her nightly duty of walking around the halls, even though she is scared as hell! Everything is going perfect until she hears “MAARRRRYY”, being called from a distance. That haunting voice sounds so familiar! Who is that? It dawned on her it was her dead husband. She follows the echo until it stops at the base of the mirror in between the angels.

Mary starts looking behind the mirror, then gets impatient, because she can’t figure it out. She puts her hand on the angels’ wings and throws her head on her arm, because she wants to see the love of her life. Then all of a sudden the mirror starts to move sideways and slows down to a dead stop. The back of the mirror opens and she hears her name being called. She feels like she could just reach in and grab the voice that is haunting her. Mary looks in the back of the mirror curiously. What is she going to do? Then out of nowhere two hands come out of the mirror and grabs Mary’s face. She screams and she gets thrown back with full force to slide for a split second. Then the mirror goes back to where it originally was, like it had never moved on its own before.

It feels as if the nuns start coming out of the walls and start crowding the halls. What are people suppose to do its midnight and someone screams? Everyone who comes out of nowhere surrounds Mary with a streak of curiosity and ponders on what did this to her?

In the end of some people’s lives their spouses can’t live without them, until they are back together. People will go to any extent to get there lover back! When that special person that loves you so much dies, a part of you dies with them. All they have to do is take your soul, because you already gave that special person your heart when you said “I DO.” Will any one ever know what happened to Mary? Or will this same thing happen to you?
