crewriting :: Weblog :: just a thought

June 27, 2007

we are nothing

we breath, our hearts beat, but why?

does all this suffering truly have a point?

to defy a God who "loves" us with destruction

and heracy

we lose ourself in sins defined by a world who knows just as little as we do

who are we to decide what is "right"

or more often then not

what is "wrong"

"because you are not beautiful"

"because you are not rich"

"because you do not think exactly as i do"

are these all the reasons we are cast aside?

because we refuse to

or do not have the ability

to conform

but if you did

if you could close your eyes and when you opened them

you were just as the world would accept you as

would you fight it?

we battle the injustices of inequality

of judgements based on our size and physical appearance

but is the only reason we hold this grudge

because we do not fall into the standards

because we are not the people the world wishes to

"love"

we seem so outraged because we are looked down upon

when truly

arent we all just jealouse?

or maybe not jealouse

but afraid

that the world is right

and we arent good enough

  1. So glad you wrote over the summer Cassandra.  Sorry I didn't check in on this space then.  You touch on an important imbalance that I can certainly relate with.  There can be a huge discrepency between who I want to be and who I think the world wants me to be - and I think you're right, sometimes the world has an absolute idea of how folks ought to act.  Your poem makes me want to strive harder to be who I am and surround myself with people and things who love and enjoy who I really am.

  2. Very nice. I really like the word choice that you used and how you wrote it. Your poems are always so good.

  3. I think that this poem is really just saying that were all  living by what other people want us to be mainley the media, and religion, I also think that its saying that people need to be them selfs not something else
